Red Shoulder Severum (Heros Efasciatus)

Description

(Heros sp. Rotkeil) is called the redhead severum or red necked severum.. The Red Neck Severum, also known as the rotkeil or Red Shoulder Severum, is either a relative or a wild variant of the more familiar green Severum. Originating from the Amazon River Basin in Peru, the Red Neck Severum is easily distinguished from the Common Green by the vibrant red coloration they exhibit around the face and throughout the ventral and anal fins. A relatively peaceful cichlid by nature, the severums do best in soft water in a tank with plenty of cover.
