Pom Pom Crab (Lybia tessellata)

Description

The extraordinary Pom Pom Crab, also known as the Boxing Crab, is no bigger than a quarter, and boasts attractive white and tan colors with darker accents for subtle camouflage. Its two front claws hold an anemone, which it uses for both protection and as a source of food for both itself and the anemone. Seen swaying the anemones back and forth in the moonlight, this special relationship between the crab and its partner is one of nature’s wonders! As with all crabs, the Pom Pom Crab needs to be fed with meaty treats regularly.
