Description
Uaru fernandezyepezi is a species of cichlid native to South America where it is found in rivers of the Orinoco River basin. This species can reach a length of 24 centimeters. The preferred water temperature for these freshwater fish is 78 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit. They are quite peaceful when they have a specious tank with other tank mates, but can still be territorial and tempermental.
Rare, distinctive, and one of the more sought after South American Cichlids, the Panda Uaru owes its name to the high contrast black and white pattern adult fish display. These fish are found in blackwater habitat in the upper Atabapo in Colombia and Venezuela , and will do best in an aquarium which replicates their native habitat low pH, soft water, and warm temperatures. Similar to wild Discus or Angelfish, Panda Uaru are best kept in a group of 5 or more.
