Neon Tetras are native to the warm rivers of South America, Brazil, Colombia and Peru. They are largely found in the Amazon River Basin. In their natural habitat the rivers flow through thick forests with dense canopies blocking lots of natural sunlight. The Neon Tetras are a schooling fish that often spend their time in the middle column of the waters. The Neon Tetras are omnivorous, eating both meaty foods and plant matter. They are peaceful fishes and make a great community fish, schooling together in a big aquarium.
