Description
Nemacheilus corica is a species of ray-finned fish belonging to the genus Nemacheilus. It is commonly found in the foothills of the Himalayas, particularly in the drainage systems of the Ganges River in Nepal and the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and West Bengal. This species is also known by several synonyms, including Cobitis corica, Schistura corica, and Schistura punctata.
Habitat: Nemacheilus corica typically inhabits rivers and streams with clear water and substrates of sand and organic detritus. The regions where it is found experience a temperate climate with heavy rainfall and a pronounced monsoon season.
Aquarium Care: If you’re considering keeping Nemacheilus corica in an aquarium, a tank with base dimensions of 60 x 30 cm or similar is recommended. It can thrive in community tanks and is known to be an ideal bottom fish for Indian-themed tanks.
