Description
Yellow Clown Goby
The most distinctive aspects of goby morphology are the fusedpelvic finsthat form a disc-shaped sucker. This sucker is functionally analogous to thedorsal finsucker possessed by theremorasor the pelvic fin sucker of thelumpsuckers, but is anatomically distinct; these similarities are the product ofconvergent evolution. Gobies can often be seen using the sucker to adhere to rocks andcorals, and inaquariumsthey will stick to glass walls of the tank, as well.
