Description
Apistogramma isa large genus of freshwater fish in the family Cichlidae native to South America, but also commonly kept in aquariums. They are dwarf cichlids that mostly feed on tiny animals and have breeding behaviors that vary depending on the exact species.
A member of the agassizii complex, these fish have some of the most brilliant coloring, straight from the wild. This species is known to havea deep purple mouth and throat, which often extends further into the head, almost reaching the gill plate in spectacular individuals.
