Uaru is a small genus of cichlids found in blackwater and whitewater habitats in the upper Orinoco and the Amazon basin.

Also known as the Triangle Cichlid,Its normal adult coloration is a silver gray with a single large dark tear shaped spot in the middle of the body. Meanwhile a juvenile Uaru Cichlids aremore charcoal colorwith white speckling over most of their body and a golden fringe edging their tear drop spots.
